Watching an old western movie called "The Way West" starring Kirk Douglass, Robert Mitchum and a bunch of other "stars" including a very young Sally Fields. Kirk Douglass is leader of a group of settlers whom he has persuaded to follow him west on a mission to create his dream city/empire. Robert Mitchum is the guide he has hired to take them there.

So wagon train comes to a river and halts. A fist fight ensues and several men wind up in the river and get totally wet. Of course nobody stopped to take any of their clothes off. And when the fight is over they all climb out of the river and return to their wagons and horses. The interesting thing is that as they mount their horses and climb back up on their wagons their clothes have somehow miraculously completely dried! How'd that happen?
Must have had their clothes made from some new fabric that dries instantly, less than a minute in fact. Didn't know they had that kind of technology in the wild west.

The actual river crossing is a great scene too. Some wagons overturn. Some horses spook and several men jump into the water to right the overturned wagons before they float away. OK, they suffered some losses and one old man drowns, but at least they have the satisfaction of knowing that their clothes will dry off quickly once they reach the other side and that they won't have to hang them next to the camp fire all night to dry and that they won't have to put on damp clothes in the morning.
